Standard General is committed to the prevention of accidents and injuries. SG seeks to ensure the health and safety of all employees by providing safe working environments by developing safe work practices and by providing employees with safety and environmental training.
SG recognizes that accidental loss can be controlled through good management in combination with active employee participation. Safety and the protection of the environment are the direct responsibility of every employee.
We continuously strive to comply, conserve and improve upon our efforts. The bottom line aside, the fact that we are creating a safe work environment, building sustainable end-products and sending every employee home every night, is something worth smiling about.
At SG, all management functions comply with the safety policy and government legislation as they relate to planning, operation, environmental protection and maintenance of facilities and equipment.

With safety being a top priority in our company, the Works Alberta group is pleased to be awarded the International Crystal Woodpecker Award 2008 from Colas SA. The Woodpecker Award is the highest safety award achievable by all Colas companies worldwide. In 2008, Works Alberta achieved a safety rating of 0.00, an accomplishment that Standard General Inc, as a subsidiary of the Works Alberta group of companies, was very proud to contribute towards. |
